Do you have some spare time and are looking to volunteer in some way? Can you help us reach the lives of older people in the Bexley Borough? We have a variety of volunteering opportunities for you to get involved in, so why not put your spare time to good use and help make a difference to the lives of older people in your community?
By volunteering for our befriending service, you can make a positive difference to the life of an isolated older person living in our community. All we ask is that you are available for up to 2 hours a week to visit an older person in their home to share a cup of tea and a chat and maybe a trip out. All our volunteers receive training and support, and are matched carefully with their client. Over time, we hope you will develop a good friendship with each other, and whilst your visits can vastly improve the lives and well-being of the older person, we believe befriending will be mutually enriching for you also.
Evergreen wouldn’t be able to function without the volunteers who work behind the scenes supporting us with our administration needs. If administration is more your area of expertise, and you have a knowledge of Microsoft word, excel, or IT and Social Media, and would like to donate some time to our rapidly growing Charity, please get in touch. We are always looking for volunteers to join our friendly group of office staff.
Do you have experience in arranging fundraising events? Are you skilled in Trust Fund applications and reports? Are you the person who likes to raise funds by running a half marathon, or climbing a mountain, or arranging coffee mornings? Whatever your skills, if you are interested in raising funds for Evergreen which will help us provide much needed services for our older people, get in touch with us now and become a part of an organisation which is dedicated to improving the lives of the older people in Bexley. Sign up here for a Virgin Money Giving account to start fundraising.
Changed or deteriorating circumstances sometimes prevent a struggling adult from managing and improving their home situation without supportive and non-judgemental help. The Clean Team work to reinstate cleanliness and order, restoring a sanitary and dignified environment for the client. If you would be interested in being part of a friendly team of people who don’t mind rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in, then this volunteering role could be for you. The Clean Team jobs can vary from a simple one day spring clean of a person’s home prior to the commencement of our Home Support Service, to a longer more involved clean up where a person’s home may have deteriorated into a squalid state. The work can be hard, but is also rewarding when you see an older person return to their clean home and the joy and surprise this brings them. Interested? For further information on joining our Clean Team, please give us a call.

If you enjoy talking to people, are good at organising and have a good sense of fun and would like to help promote the work of Evergreen Care Bexley, then one of these volunteering roles could be for you.

Through faith, the simplest prayer can make the world of difference
Evergreen Care is a Christian organisation with the teachings of Jesus at its heart. As such, we always appreciate support in the form of prayer, and have a dedicated prayer team led by Jill Grant, our prayer coordinator. We welcome the opportunity to visit churches from across the borough to join in with their prayer times, and also hold a weekly prayer meeting in our offices. We also have regular contact with the prayer coordinators in our partner organisations in Stamford and Sleaford and regularly hold their needs up in prayer. If you would like to become a part of our prayer support, or would like to join us for prayer on a Friday, then please get in touch.

Whatever your background, a commitment to the values and objectives of the charity will be crucial.
The role of the Trustee is to work in a team to ensure that the charity is administered effectively, holding the responsibility for overall control and management which includes Governance and Strategy.
