Consumers are demanding Corporate Responsibility
Supporting a local charity can been good for your business in many ways. A 2014 study by Nielsen revealed that: “55% of global online consumers across 60 countries say they are willing to pay more for products and services provided by companies that are committed to positive social and environmental impact.” Additional research from Cone Communications/Echo Global showed: “90 percent of shoppers worldwide [are] likely to switch to brands that support a good cause.” Last year, Forresters surveyed 1100 people in the UK and found that most consumers think businesses should support a charity, whilst 82% stated this would affect their decision when choosing between two businesses.
Define your corporate identity
The charitable element of a company can be a foundation of its brand. It shows your customers that you are different from your competitors and are ethical in your approach to business. This not only helps your brand image but can also help with recruitment of staff.
Promoting your involvement with a charity can benefit your company in many ways. Coverage on social media and links to your chosen charity can demonstrate to clients, customers and business partners that your company and its leadership team are committed to supporting your local community through your chosen charity. In addition, most business award applications ask for information about a company’s corporate social responsibility.
Many people would like to help a charity, either by volunteering or raising funds, but don’t have time in their busy lives to achieve this. By making employee sponsored activities available, staff are given the opportunity to fulfill this desire to help without having to squeeze another activity into their weekly routine. In addition, giving employees this opportunity instills a sense of pride in themselves and their company. These volunteering activities are good for team building and promote a sense of camaraderie between employees, leading to increased loyalty and retention of staff. Remember, your staff are your best asset.
Your limited company pays less Corporation Tax when it gives the following to charity:
Money, equipment or trading stock, land, property or shares, employees(on secondment) or sponsorship payments. You can claim tax relief by deducting the value of your donation from your total business profits before you pay tax. Please visit: www.gov.uk/tax-limited-company-gives-to-charity/seconding-employees or speak with your accountant.
These are some of the benefits to your business and don’t forget, you will also be helping Evergreen Care Bexley to change lives for the better.
