WHO WE ARE
Our history so far
Evergreen Care Bexley became a registered charity in 2013, and is based on a Christian model of care being provided by Evergreen Care Trust in Stamford. We knew that we could replicate the success of their organisation and how they had positioned themselves in the community and adapt it to our demographic in the Borough of Bexley.
Evergreen Care Bexley’s founders, Pete and Diane, have almost 60 years experience between them caring for the elderly. Seeing the desperate needs that are, sadly, very often not being met, they believe there is a better way to treat people as they grow older and become more vulnerable.
In 2013, Pete and Diane held a conference to gain support and awareness from the Church community for the idea of launching their own Evergreen. They were astounded when 111 people representing 35 churches in Bexley turned up to hear their message.
Since it’s launch, Evergreen Care Bexley has provided support to over 2000 clients. They currently have 65 staff and 170 volunteers, looking after 600+ vulnerable older people in Bexley. They became a London Living Wage Employer in March 2017, something quite unique in the care industry as they believe in looking after their staff as well as their clients.
Evergreen Care Bexley proudly won Best Charity in the Bexley Business Excellence Awards 2018 and Best Community Care Organisation at the Bexley Caring At Its Best Awards 2018 and 2019. They have also won the Best Supportive Communities award at the 2018 Faith in the Community Awards, in conjunction with the Bexley Interfaith Forum and Bexley Council.
Evergreen Care Bexley’s success to date it largely down to it’s willingness to work in and with the community. From volunteer support to Business partnerships via the Lighthouse Project, Evergreen continues to change the lives of older people, one life at a time. We have come together with a common purpose in response to the needs of older vulnerable people living in our community. It represents a commitment to the resolution of the dilemmas of ageing, with God-inspired solutions that respond to local pressing and changing needs.
Together we will make a difference.
Through Christian love, we seek to support people to achieve the highest
quality of life and self worth. Leading with innovation, treating with
compassion and valuing each person, we enrich lives, improve the health and
wellbeing of communities, and respect and care for the physical, emotional,
and spiritual needs of people, bringing peace of mind to those we serve. Our
mission calls us to care for the sick and disadvantaged as expressed in
We commit ourselves to the Christian principles on which we were founded
and seek to fulfill the need for quality services and excellence in care.
Motivated by our values, Evergreen will reach out to the community and
transform society though the biblical model of sharing and lead the way in
standards of care.
